Ember's Symptom Tracker

Women are often told to “listen to their bodies,” but rarely given the tools or language to do it. We don’t think that’s fair.
So we created the Ember Symptom Tracker, a first‑of‑its‑kind system designed to support you between appointments, not just during them.
You’ll receive short, guided check‑ins that help you articulate how you’re feeling day to day. These aren’t generic surveys. They’re smart, clinically informed touchpoints that help our team understand whether your plan is working, whether something needs adjusting, or whether a visit would be helpful.

You’re not expected to figure this out alone. You have a team, and technology built for women, walking this with you.

FAQ
Good question, and the answer is no.
You can choose to stop whenever you like.
However, you should expect that your symptoms will return to baseline when you do.
Additionally, there is good evidence that MHT provides powerful preventative care, working to keep your bones, muscles, and neurological function firing well. For this reason alone, you may want to consider MHT long-term.
Although more research is needed, the current data tells us that women do best if they start MHT earlier, and within 10 years of menopause, but this does not mean that women past this date are ineligible. Talk with your provider to see if MHT is right for you!Great question. Time to perceived improvements can vary from person to person. For some, benefits can be felt the first week, for others it can take several weeks or a few months. In general, by 3 months into treatment you should know if therapy is addressing your symptoms.
Having said that, hormone optimization is a journey. Lenth of therapy is just one factor in determining outcomes. Other factors include dosage adjustments, absorption issues requiring alternative methods of application, additional therapy types, and overall functional health. Our team is trained to work through the process until we get your balance just right! The quick answer is no; you do not have to start any therapy unless you are fully aligned. Hard stop.
However, we now know that MHT is generally safe for most women and can be considered preventative care, including better outcomes metabolically, cardiovascular, neurologically and breast health.
Furthermore, as in the case of weight-loss and GLP-1, addressing the underlying inflammatory effects of menopause through co-treatment with MHT helps women achieve superior results.
Your provider will discuss your unique case and together will create a treatment plan best for you!
This is a very common concern, and why wouldn't it be? To date, if you open a simple google search most entries refer to testosterone as "the male hormone." This overlooks the fact that testosterone is an incredibly important hormone in the female body, and in fact, you have 10x more testosterone than estrogen in your body, incredible right?
This is why Dr. Traish, former Chief Editor of the Journal of Andrology loudly proclaims, "Testosterone is a HUMAN hormone!" We can all suffer from testosterone deficiency, not just men.
Having said that, some women can be more susceptible to "virilization", that is, developing male traits such as excess hair growth, body odor, deepening of voice, or enlarged clitoris. Data tells us that about 5% of women using testosterone may experience this. In most cases, simple modifications such as reducing dose, or using hair removal techniques such as waxing or laser, resolves unwanted symptoms.
Dose-responses vary woman to woman, and your clinician is trained to create a treatment plan that is exactly right for you.
At Ember, in most cases, your provider will want to meet you before we order lab work. Once they understand your unique history and needs, labs will be ordered in a timely manner that support your care.

Here are reasons we would order lab work:
-To get baseline labs to help us understand a snapshot of where you are now.
-To screen for other conditions outside of hormones that may be contributing to your symptoms, for example, thyroid issues, anemia, or nutritional deficiencies.
-To guide your treatment if symptoms are non-responsive to current dosage, or route of administration.
-If you are on testosterone therapy, best practice requires occasional blood draws to check levels are within range and hematocrit response is normal.
-When a woman requests it. Good enough reason for us.

The 2022 North American Society of Menopause position statement is that treatment using menopausal hormone therapy should be symptom-based and not based on lab work. In general, Ember agrees with this. That is due to the tremendous variability we see in women over this shift. In the case of a perimenopausal woman, there is a 95% chance her labs are within normal range. In the case of a postmenopausal woman her hormones will most likely be non-detectable. In all cases, we will treat a woman based on her symptoms. Her story tells us what she needs. Labs are not used as a barrier to care, rather, to guide us.
