WE ARE SO PLEASED TO MEET YOU
The Ember Origin Story
Why EMBER?
Ember was born from four years of sitting across from women in the surprising challenging transition of midlife, listening, learning, and witnessing what actually helps and what absolutely does not. I had a front‑row seat to hormone optimization, how to build a well-run hormone clinic, and the daily realities women face when they’re searching for answers. But more than anything, I had a front‑row seat to you.

I listened to women cry through the frustration of not feeling like themselves. I listened to them vent, to laugh at the absurdity of what their bodies were doing, to question whether what they were experiencing was “normal.” Those conversations, raw, unfiltered, human, became the most precious part of my education. I learned exactly what women want from hormone therapy, and just as importantly, what they never want to deal with again.

Women want access and validation, yes. But they also want providers who get it. Even though most women know more about their hormones than many of the people treating them, they don’t want to carry that burden. They don’t want to predict their own dose changes, or guess whether something is off, or advocate for adjustments they didn’t even know they needed. They want a team walking alongside them. They want to feel empowered, not responsible for managing their own care.

And as I moved deeper into my own midlife transition, everything I had witnessed became personal. I struggled with the hormonally driven weight gain that comes from years of chronic stress and disordered eating. Later I hit the unmistakable “estrogen wall,” the sudden disorientation of not feeling at home in your own body. The hot flashes, the sleep unraveling, the anxiety that feels like it comes out of nowhere. I lived it. I understood it. And I knew one thing with absolute clarity: I didn’t want anyone selling me a transformation or telling me I needed to become a “better version” of myself. I wasn’t broken. I was changing.

That’s when I understood exactly who the Ember Woman is.

She is not becoming someone new, she is returning to herself. The noise and nonsense of her youth have burned off. The external demands that once felt crushing now feel irrelevant. What matters most is coming home to who she has always been. She is the quiet, steady heat beneath the surface, a bed of embers, controlled and wise, with the capacity to ignite a wildfire the moment she chooses. She doesn’t need reinvention. She needs fuel, support, and the right tools. And when she has them, she becomes more herself than ever.

To bring Ember to life, I knew I needed women who embodied that same strength and clarity.

Joyce, a seasoned Nurse Practitioner, brings years of experience in aging medicine and a deep understanding of what it means to care for women in every stage of life. She understands the importance of cultivating authentic relationships and healthy female connections. Her calm, grounded presence is the kind of steadiness women crave in a provider compassionate, confident, and full of grace.

Becca, my beautiful sister‑in‑law, has spent years in business development, branding, and medical sales. Her ability to serve customers is what Robin Sharma would call “world‑class.” She is bold, genuine, and uncompromising in her standards, the perfect guardian of Ember’s brand.

And Janice, my longtime mentor and friend, has been advocating for women’s health since the day I met her as a board member for the American Heart Association. She shattered glass ceilings in a male‑dominated tech world, rose through the ranks with grit and brilliance, and then turned around to lift other women with her. She is the ideal founder and benefactor of Ember, a woman who leads with conviction and generosity.

Together, we built Ember for one reason: so women could finally feel supported, understood, and empowered in midlife.
My hope is that every woman who walks through Ember feels like she’s joining a community, not a clinic. A place built for her, by women who have lived it, and who believe deeply in her ability to thrive, feel amazing, and reignite the fiercest parts of her life.

Naomi Henry, MLS (ASCP) Founder and CEO of Ember
I bring to Ember more than 20 years of clinical experience. I began my career in the hospital setting as a medical laboratory scientist, interpreting lab assays, hematology, chemistries, and specializing in microbiology. Those years taught me how to think clinically, how to interpret data, and how to understand the story a woman’s labs are telling long before she ever feels the symptoms.
Along the way, I discovered I had an entrepreneurial spirit. I built a successful health and wellness business that I ran for over a decade, learning how to lead, how to build community, and how to create something that genuinely helps people.
Eventually, I joined a startup hormone clinic specializing in testosterone and hormone care for both men and women. It was a new and rapidly evolving field, and I had a direct role in hormone optimization.
I learned more in those four years than I ever expected, what works, what doesn’t, and what women are consistently missing in their care. That understanding is what shaped Ember: a clinic created by women, for women, with a bold, confident, and fiercely protective approach to midlife health. A brand I hadn’t yet seen represented, and one I knew women deserved.
Ember exists so women finally have a place where they feel understood, supported, and empowered not dismissed, minimized, or left to figure things out alone. It’s built for the woman who is ready to return to herself, to feel at home in her body again, and to move through midlife with clarity, strength, and fire.

Hi! I’m Joyce Allen, a Nurse Practitioner and a Founder of Ember. I come to menopausal care through the lens of gerontology, which means I see menopause as part of a woman’s broader aging story, a time that deserves expertise, compassion, and thoughtful guidance. My background in aging medicine gives me a deep appreciation for how powerful hormone therapy can be as preventative care. I understand the ways hormones interact with every part of a woman’s health, from gut and thyroid function to autoimmune conditions and emotional well‑being. I take a holistic approach because women deserve care that recognizes the full complexity of their bodies.
At Ember, I work closely with our founder, Naomi, whose expertise in hormone optimization has been an invaluable part of shaping our progressive approach. I’m a member of The Menopause Society and have sat for their Menopause Practitioner Exam, widely regarded as the gold standard in this field. I’ve completed Dr. Rachel Rubin’s prescriber’s hormonal course. Dr. Rubin is a urologist, sexual health advocate, and a leading voice in menopausal medicine who recently advocated before the FDA for removal of the black box warning on estrogen products. Learning from clinicians like Dr. Rubin, we are proactive in ensuring our patients receive care grounded in the most up‑to‑date science.
On a personal level, I’ve always had to fight hard to optimize my health, which sparked my passion for holistic, root-cause wellness. This hit even closer to home as I have been navigating the twists and turns of perimenopause and understanding first-hand the disorientation of this life transition. This could have been a time in my life to step back, but instead, fueled by this mission and supported by great hormone therapy, I’m all in. I’m balancing meaningful clinical work with the beautiful chaos of homeschooling my two kids, living proof that midlife is not a slowdown. It’s a powerful ignition.
My goal is to create a space where women feel heard, supported, and empowered as they move through midlife and beyond. I believe that when a woman understands her body, she becomes unstoppable, and I’m grateful to be part of a chapter that can be her most powerful yet.

Rebecca Normand, Founder and Chief Brand Officer
I’ve always been drawn to work that centers around people and connection. From my early days in the restaurant industry, to building a skincare and wellness consultation business, and eventually medical sales and marketing, every chapter of my career taught me the same lesson: women remember how you make them feel. Even in roles where I could've simply “punched in and punched out,” I could not stop thinking about the client experience and how to make it more elevated, personal, and unforgettable.
That desire became deeply personal after walking through my own health journey. I remember feeling exhausted, uncomfortable in my body, frustrated by stubborn weight gain, and disconnected from the version of myself I knew was still in there somewhere. When I finally started using science-based support and prioritizing my health differently, I began to feel my energy, confidence, and vitality return. It wasn’t just about physical changes — it was about feeling hopeful and empowered again. Naomi, my sister-in-law and our CEO, played such a meaningful role in that transformation, and together we knew women deserved an experience that felt far more personal, supportive, and elevated than what currently existed.
What excites me most about Ember is that we are building something rooted in genuine care. We are creating a space where women feel safe to be seen, supported, celebrated, and reminded that their next chapter can be their strongest and most vibrant yet. I truly believe women thrive in community, and my dream is for Ember women to feel lit up again — in their health, their confidence, their friendships, their relationships, and their lives. That’s the energy we are building here, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of it.
